Our staff frequently volunteer their time to assist with special events, local charities and fundraising. We also support a range of community and charity fundraising initiatives that our staff and members are proud to take part in. Here are some of the ways in which Club Central has been helping the local community:
WE WENT RED FOR RESEARCH
As part of our ongoing support for St George & Sutherland Medical Research Foundation, we went RED for research in June, collecting donations from patrons to go towards life saving medical research in St George & Sutherland Hospitals.
CHOCCY FOR BRAIN CANCER
Chocolate doesn’t count as calories if it’s for a good cause right?! In May for brain cancer awareness month, we raised funds for the Charlie Teo Foundation in memory of several loved ones of Club Central team members who have passed away from brain cancer. We raised over $2000 thanks to everyone buying a sweet Cadbury treat!
WE HAD A HEART TO HEART
In April we matched donations dollar for dollar to go towards the purchase of life saving defibrillators through local charity, Response for Life which was established in memory of loved ones lost to sudden, and often unexplained, cardiac death. It is our hope that no family suffer such an unbearable loss.
CLEAN UP AUSTRALIA DAY
For the past 4 years, the Club Central team has taken part in Clean Up Australia Day, cleaning up Menai Conservation Reserve. We were joined by some fantastic volunteers from Project Youth this year as well as a few community minded members.
WE CELEBRATED PINK MONTH
In January 2021, we kicked off the year with PINK month – raising funds for breast cancer charities for the prevention, treatment and the search for a cure. We screened the Domain Pink Test screened live on the Sports Bar mega screen, we held pink BINGO a free PINK dauber, raised funds through mega meat raffles supporting the McGrath Foundation, donated $1 per PINK treat from the Terrace Bistro Café to National Breast Cancer Foundation, donated $1 per Summer Spritz cocktail sold during the month to Love Your Sister and $1 per PINK Gin Cocktail donated to Breast Cancer Network Australia.
DANDELION DONATION DRIVE
In October 2020 we collected donations from our members and team for Dandelion Support Network, which provides a range of items to families with babies and children in need of support. Our wonderful Menai receptionist Louise knitted the trauma teddies pictured which were used in care packs for new mums.
