Our staff frequently volunteer their time to assist with special events, local charities and fundraising. We also support a range of community and charity fundraising initiatives that our staff and members are proud to take part in.
Here are some of the ways in which Club Central has been helping the local community.
For Medical Research Month in June, we went #RedforResarch and proudly donated $2,500 to St George & Sutherland Medical Research Foundation. We are so lucky to have research taking place in our local hospitals improving outcomes and treatments for patients.
First Responders Day
On Thursday 25 June, we participated in First Responders Day as a way of saying a big THANK YOU to all of the first responders who have been keeping us safe and well during COVID-19. We offered 5 years membership for the price of 1 and a free bottle of wine for all first responders who took up the offer.
Everything PINK in January
The BreastScreen van was back again for the second year in a row for our successful PINK month activation. We built on the great success of 2019, with even more ways for members, guests and staff to get involved. Along with the Domain Pink Test live on the big screen, we held mega meat raffles to support the McGrath Foundation as well as Love Your Sister. We teamed up with our wine supplier, McWilliams to debut four different styles of Rose wine and donated $1 per glass – with over 500 glasses purchased across the month. Our Terrace Bistro also got on board and donated $ for every pink donut sold throughout the month.
Mo Growing Central
Our staff were keen to support all things related to Men’s health. The Club Central Senior Leadership team led the way with the mo growing effort, along with plenty of hairy effort put in by our staff. We raised in excess of $1300 and topped it off with a Movember themed mufti day on the last Sunday of the month where staff could wear black and white and make a gold coin donation to the cause.
Dandelion Support Network Collection
In October we held a hugely successful clothing collection for Dandelion Support Network with our members and guests very generously donating clothing and other baby/kids goods. Our staff also held a ‘dress in yellow’ day and made a gold coin donation to Dandelion to go towards purchasing new items that will go to some of the most disadvantaged families and children in the wider community. Dandelion Support Network provides support to people living in housing stress, escaping domestic violence and abuse, living with mental health issues or refugees making a new life for their family.
Parma For A Farmer
We wanted to do what we could to continue to support farmers struggling with the drought and brought back Parma for a Farmer in September 2019. A total of 359 parmas were sold over the course of the month and our staff also held a ‘dress like a farmer day’ raising over $319.
Blood Donation Drive
We donate our precious red stuff to the Red Cross throughout the year and are holding a special blood donation drive from June-August to try and collect as many donations as possible for the Club Central Red25 team. We encourage all members to consider signing up and giving the precious and life saving gift of blood. One blood donation can save 3 lives and 1 in 3 people will need some sort of blood related product in their life. If it’s not you, then think of your friends and family.
Carers Ruby Ball
Club Central Menai was the proud hosts of the Carer’s Support Service Ruby Ball, where Cheryl Koenig OAM, launched her book In My Blood to raise funds for unpaid carers in the community.
We were proud to donate $5,000 to the cause. Thanks to Principal Event Partner NAB and Event Sponsor AMP Advice as well as many other local businesses and individuals who supported the event to raise in excess of $20,000.
