Our staff frequently volunteer their time to assist with special events, local charities and fundraising. Here are some of the ways in which the Club Central Community Crew has been helping the local community. You’ll often see them out and about with their distinctive red Community Crew shirts on.
Sylvanvale Charity Golf Day
Several staff volunteered in their own time at the Sylvanvale Golf Day to help raise funds for this fantastic Shire charity. They assisted with setting up for the luncheon, selling raffle tickets and also manning the all important drinks cart to ensure that everyone on course remained well hydrated!
Stuffing & Stitching for a Cause
During Breast Cancer Awareness month in October, staff volunteered their time to help stuff and stitch Zonta Breast Care cushions to help bring comfort to breast cancer patients. The small hand-made cushions that fit neatly under a patient’s arm post-surgery to protect sensitive scars and avoid accidental but painful knocks. The cushions have been funded by Club Central for the past five years with an annual grant of $3,000 through its ClubsGRANTS program. The grant also funds the production of an information booklet for patients with information from trained Breast Care Nurses.
Donating Blood for the Red Cross
We led the way by donating the precious red stuff to the Red Cross throughout the year. Club Central also signed up to Red25 team and encourages all members to consider signing up to our Club Central. Existing donor can link their Donor ID number to the Club Central Red25 team. New donors can call 13 14 95 to become a donor and receive your ID. Our aim is to be the number one Red25 team in the region, and with over 40,000 members and possible blood donors we think this goal is well within reach. One blood donation can save 3 lives and 1 in 3 people will need some sort of blood related product in their life. If it’s not you, then think of your spouse or siblings.
Relay for Life
The Club Central crew really did walk the walk, not just talk the talk and took part in the 24 hour Relay For Life at Cronulla in May 2017.
Our committed Community Crew members took on the challenge of walking around the clock to raise funds for the Cancer Council and show our support for this important community event.
St George Meals On Wheels
Club Central staff have been out in the community helping with various volunteer organisations. One of these important Organisations is St George Meals On Wheels. Each Wednesday one of the Club Central staff visits homes delivering meals to those who are unable to cook for themselves. Our staff have reported that the Meals on Wheels recipients clearly appreciate the service and the interaction with the staff during the visit. Many of the elderly in the program are happy to have a brief chat with the volunteers during an otherwise quiet day. Many have said it is a rewarding experience brightening their spirits and providing a service to the community that they would usually not get to experience.
